Duplex Apartment by Zegrze Reservoir

An Interior as an Extension of the Landscape

This nearly 90-square-metre duplex show apartment in Rezydencja Zegrze, developed by Mostostal, was designed to create a cohesive connection between the interior and the surrounding views. The layout maximises the use of natural daylight—large glazing, matte finishes and mirrors enhance brightness and visually expand the space. Curved built-in furniture subtly defines functional zones while reinforcing the soft, organic character of the interior. The scheme is based on a carefully selected palette of high-quality materials, with a focus on durability, refined detailing and overall design consistency.

The wabi-sabi aesthetic is expressed through both the selection and application of materials. Natural wood is used for flooring and bespoke joinery, introducing warmth and an authentic texture. Walls are accented with structured tiles resembling limestone, alongside a handcrafted rock-effect feature behind the television, adding sculptural depth. In the kitchen and living area, small-format, glazed Spanish tiles with a subtle sheen contrast with matte surfaces. Varied textures and tones interact with light, while organically shaped lighting above the dining table complements the composition of the living space.

“One of the key challenges was designing the staircase in relation to the large-format wall beside it—visible from both the ground floor and the mezzanine. This element could neither compete with the exterior view nor with the feature wall opposite. At the same time, it required a defined architectural presence. The solution is a lightweight steel staircase with a glass balustrade, resulting in a refined, transparent structure that integrates seamlessly into the space.”
