Natural Materials in a Light-Filled, Double-Height Space

This house in a quiet area near Warsaw was designed as a functional family home, where the natural surroundings flow seamlessly indoors through impressive glazing overlooking the forest. The architect made full use of the building’s natural qualities, creating a design that feels cohesive with its woodland setting while responding to the everyday needs of a large family. The open-plan living area brings together the lounge, dining room and kitchen, making the most of the interior height and the access to natural light. The composition is structured by wooden beams that echo the ceiling construction, introducing a clear material rhythm, later repeated in the bespoke joinery, which creates a warm and consistent foundation for the interior.

The design is based on the extensive use of built-in furniture, integrating storage and bringing order to the space. In the kitchen area, the pantry, appliances and tall cabinets are concealed, allowing the whole space to remain visually calm and organised. The functional layout leads through to the private area, which includes a bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and en-suite bathroom, as well as children’s rooms.

The bathrooms feature a light, cohesive material palette complemented by wood. Soft forms appear throughout: a freestanding bathtub, an open shower area and irregular mirrors. Refined details and carefully considered solutions complete the scheme, enhancing everyday comfort.
